F a Q

Nobody likes rules, including the crew at Flying Timber Axe Throwing, but whenever you have people in close proximity to razor sharp axes flying through the air you are going to have to have a few. So here are the basics

Do I have to wear special clothing?
Closed toe shoes are required! We have a very limited number of very ugly and embarrassing slip on shoes available for rental ($4 with socks) . Dress comfortably and in clothing that will allow easy movement of arms.
Is axe throwing dangerous?
Safety is our number one concern! Our throwing coaches will walk you thru the entire process of throwing axes and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. Each lane is specifically built to meet all safty standards. Be sure to check out our videos for additional information.
Is axe throwing hard?
Everyone can do it! We promise! The axes are the smaller, hatchet-sized axes and weigh about 1.5 pounds. Lanes are marked with a throwing zone to help keep you the right distance from the target. Your throwing coach will show you the easy process of throwing axes and help you fine tune your throw during your session. They offer simple and easy to follow instructions on axe throwing.
Can I bring alcohol / does Flying Timber sell alcohol?
Outsides drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are not allowed. We carry an assortment of craft beers, domestic beers, soda, gatorade, monster, and water. We enforce a 100% ID check policy. Individuals showing signs of intoxication will not be permitted in the facility.
How much does it cost?
Please see our bookings section for packages, rates, specials and walk-in hours.
Can I bring in outside food?
Absolutely!  Watch for updates on our food partners that will deliver right to your throwing lane.  Flying Timber does not provide utensils or flat wear.
Can I bring my own axe or knives to throw?
Only our axes can be thrown at our facility. This is due to insurance and safety reasons.  We are working on expanding our throwing options to include other items.  Watch our facebook for updates.
How big of a group can book a lane?
Max of 6 people per lane. If you have more than 6 we suggest you book 2 or more lanes.  If your group is booking more than 1 lane, under different names, please let us know so that we can be sure to have your lanes next to each other. For parties and special events, we can accommodate groups up to 130 people. Our layout also works great for renting half of the facility, which includes a large open space perfect for food set up and social area.
What are your hours?
Our hours can vary some due to private events. In general, our hours are currently Wednesday & Thursday 5PM to 9PM, Friday 5PM to 10:30PM and Saturday 12PM to 10:30PM. Any changes to this will be posted on our Facebook page. We are available outside these hours for private parties and events - contact us for more info!
Do I have to participate or can I watch?
All visitors to Flying Timber must complete a waiver, even if they are not throwing. You are welcome to watch other members of  your party throw. The lane max of 6 people is still in place due to space in the lane area. And don’t worry, when you change your mind and want to join in, come down to the front counter and we will get you set up for throwing. All participants and observers must be at least 12 years of age.
Is there parking available?
There is meter parking all around our building. Additionally, there is a city parking garage 1 block to the north. We are short walking distance from the Old Market, Capitol District, convention center, and ball field.
Do I have to make a reservation?
We strongly recommend booking your lane in advance. Our reservation system will show you when there is availability. There will often be open availability for walk-ins; however, during peak times we may not be able to accommodate walk-ins. Booking in advance will also allow your group to complete waivers prior to arrival, which makes check in much faster.
Is your venue handicap accessible?
Absolutely! All areas of Flying Timber are wheelchair accessible. Our throwing lanes are 5 feet wide X 20 feet deep. There is a minimal lip when transitioning to our padded flooring from the regular flooring surface. Our ramp is a little narrower than current ADA standards.
Is there a minimum age limit?
We ask that participants and observers be at least 12 years of age. It is important that participants be able to follow instruction on proper procedures to ensure a fun and safe experience. The axes are not heavy and in our experience, most everyone of this age, and older, is able to participate. All minors must have a waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian.
Can we come early to set up for a party or group booking?
Contact us in advance and we will do what we can to accommodate your request. We want your event or party to be the best event you and your guests have ever attended!
What if we are late for our booking?
Unfortunately we cannot hold lanes. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may offer your lane to another waiting party. We also cannot extend your lane time, as it would interfere with other scheduled bookings.
Do you have leagues?
Yes! Stay tuned for more info on leagues coming soon!
